KINDERGARTEN NEWS

September
Our smallest panthers are doing a great job adjusting to a full day of kindergarten.  The children are learning how to follow the school rules in and out of the classroom. Knowing how to respect and listen to all the adults at our school is important because the children interact with so many different helpers during the school day. We are getting ready to begin our Common Core reading unit on nursery rhymes which is very exciting!  So many fun and engaging learning activities are planned for this unit, so make sure your child comes to school everyday so that they do not miss out.  In math, our students are learning about colors, shapes, and numbers.  We have started 6 trait writing for little writers.  Our first writing project involved listening to the story, Harold and the Purple Crayon, and then responding to the book through writing. When your child brings home a piece of writing they wrote at school, praise them for their efforts. The first step to becoming a great writer is just trying.  A scribble in kindergarten carries a lot of meaning.  Take the time to ask your child what they drew.  You will be amazed at what they can tell you about their picture:)
